The North Carolina Industrial Commission (NCIC) has announced that the mileage rate for 2014 is 56 cents per mile for claimants. The new reimbursement rate is in accordance with the NCIC’s policy to annually recognize rates set by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The current IRS standard rate is 56 cents per mile. This reimbursement is for miles driven 20 or more round trip for travel that is associated with workers’ compensation medical treatment.

In addition to mileage reimbursement, lodging and meal expenses incurred by employees are reimbursable if the overnight stay is deemed medically necessary. Costs related to parking fees and transportation for hire may also be reimbursed if such is deemed medically necessary.
