Question:

Is a Global Entry Card (GEC) an acceptable document for Form I-9?

Answer:

No. The Global Entry Program (GEP) is a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States.

Participants may enter the United States by using automated kiosks located at select airports. These kiosks require the participant to present either their machine-readable passport or US permanent resident card, make a customs declaration and, after fingerprint verification, prints a receipt for the traveler to advance to baggage claim and exit the airport. Travelers must pass a rigorous background check and interview process in order to receive their Global Entry Card.

Although participants in the GEP have undergone a thorough background check and interview prior to enrollment, a Global Entry Card is not an acceptable document for Form I-9.
