Exercise your member benefit and kick off the new year by participating in the 10th annual NC Healthcare Benefits & Cost Survey. Join the many members who have already participated. As you may recall, the decision was made to move this survey’s data collection from November to January to best capture current year data. Plus, we are pleased to announce a newer, cleaner, shorter version of the survey this year. We have collaborated with Hill, Chesson & Woody (HCW) and sister association The Employers Association (TEA) to focus on the variables you need most to navigate the fast-changing healthcare landscape.
What will you need to make completion as fast and accurate as possible? New this year is the instruction to obtain and use your organization’s Summary of Benefits Coverage (SBC) to complete this year’s survey. It is very important to locate this document, which is made available to you by your carrier. Using your SBC will allow for easier entry of plan data and a more standardized data collection overall. In addition to your SBC, please have available your plan rates information and plan payroll deductions. Members are invited to take part in this valuable survey by January 23rd.
Why should you participate? Year after year, the survey has proven to be a tool for local employers to gather information about current market trends in healthcare along with benefit design and costs. As the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) looms closer, employers are asking: 1) What are companies seeing in terms of medical plan rate increases?, and 2) Are companies changing their current plans due to increased cost? By participating, you will learn premium costs and employer contributions, and rate increases for those with 2015 plan renewals. Also learn value driver costs and related cost-sharing changes. Also learn if others are offering wellness differentials and other trend tidbits.
This year’s online survey will be conducted using PeriscopeIQ. New this year is a self-authenticated format. The first time you visit the survey, you will be asked to create your own login (username, password). Once accepted, you can choose to move through the survey at your pace, starting and stopping as needed. This save/continue capability will allow for easier completion. With your SBC(s) and related information readily available, the survey could take as little as 15 minutes for those employers with only one health plan. Multiple plans may require 30+ minutes. All participants will receive a complimentary copy of the results in April.
